Quitting Birth Control

Most of the women use birth control pills for their convenience and reliability, but many of them worry about, whether they will be able to get pregnant later or not. However, the good thing is that most of the time, the fertility will return to normal quickly. It may take a few months to have regular periods after quitting birth control pills. It is possible to get pregnant, if one ovulates during this time, but if one is not having regular periods then it may be possible that she would recognize the pregnancy in right away.
Sometimes in life, one may face with the decisions of quitting birth control. It may because a woman is ready to start a family or having a child or because of other problems and issues. Quitting birth control may affect her life in various manners as well as can also affect her partner. If a woman is still in her childbearing age, then by quitting birth control, whether of internal or external type, the chances of getting pregnant will increase. In that condition, nothing will stop the sperms from reaching the egg and fertilizing it. This would result in pregnancy. It may take a little time if one is using internal type of birth control method. However, once the body has adjusted to not being on birth control, conditions will most likely be positive for pregnancy to occur.
If a woman has been using a birth control method, which releases estrogen and progesterone hormones into her body, she should know that her hormone level would fluctuate. This can result in the signs of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual Dysphonic Disorder (PMDD), which may return or worsen. If one was taking birth control for the treatment of endometriosis, acne treatment or for any other condition, the symptoms or condition may return or worsen.
Birth control pills are used to maintain proper regulation when one is having periods or sometimes to control heavy bleeding. Quitting birth control may cause the periods to become irregular again, therefore she would not know when the periods would going to start and finish. Quitting birth control can also cause the heavy bleeding; this can increase the chances of becoming iron-deficient and causing some other problem. Quitting the birth control method, can cause many changes in the body and life of a female. She and her partner, both should get agree before a woman or her partner stops the use of birth control. Before quitting birth control, one should inform his/her health care professional. A health care professional can give advice about what a woman or man may require doing, to prevent or cure any medical problem that could be raise after quitting birth control. If heavy periods or symptoms of PMS and PMDD do not change or if the symptoms worsen extensively, then one must contact with her doctor or health care professional as soon as possible. One may also get a hormonal imbalance after quitting birth control, which may need special attention. |
